Research Suggests Careers & Relationships Are Top Concerns In The Post Pandemic Era

New research suggests that careers and relationships are key concerns for people in the post pandemic era. Collated by transformational coach and Master Hand Analyst, Brent Bruning, the results show many of us are taking deep dives into our reason for being.

Based on questionnaires from 500 clients, understanding purpose and gaining clarity over careers was the most popular reason for booking a hand analysis session (46%) followed by building confidence (28%), overcoming feelings of hopelessness or depression (18%) and finally being more organized about finances (8%). The qualitative research also looked at future goals. Again, purpose and careers scored highly (31%); communicating more effectively in relationships (29%), a desire to attain peace and harmony (25%), and enjoying the freedom to pursue personal interests (15%) other priorities.

The results appear to be a reflection of many of the issues brought about during Covid, several studies showing careers, especially women's, were adversely affected *. Interestingly, spikes in break-ups and divorces were also noted over the course of the pandemic *.

Bruning claims that with covid disrupting the normal rhythm of life and for a lengthy period, people were forced to confront more existential questions about work, home and relationships. He comments, "To know the answers to those questions we need to search deep within ourselves to find out who we really are, which is perhaps why less traditional forms of transformational coaching, like hand analysis, are seeing a rise in popularity.

A pioneering field *, hand analysis is useful to individuals who are looking to identify their core career opportunities and also couples who want to find out how to become more compatible”

Using our handprints, Bruning is able to discover who we are at our core and what our soul craves. Every line and swirl, every ridge and whorl, and even the shape and size of our hands and fingers has been decoded and charted by the International Institute of Hand Analysis, the organisation’s theories drawing on the empirical study of over half a million hands. For the last 14 years, Bruning has also studied the hands of some of the world's most remarkable celebrities. Keira Knightley, Richard Branson, Gwen Stefani and more appear in The Power In Your Hands, his latest book containing patterns of success which can be mapped onto our own handprints.

Brent Bruning comments, “Hand analysis is a transformational tool that helps people to see their strengths, locate their blind spots, resolve challenges and develop the clarity to move to their next chapter. Every handprint is a unique blueprint showing us who we are as an individual and what is meaningful to us. Understanding experiences that are the most sensational and naturally rewarding for someone is a powerful tool for self-awareness and wellbeing. Hand analysis also directly pinpoints our deepest fears, triggers, and struggles so we can make genuine steps towards being a better and more whole version of ourselves.”

When asked about couples in a recent BBC Radio Broadcast, Bruning commented, "If I'm reading for couples, I'm going to be looking at the Heart Line to see how they are communicating. I read for a couple recently who have a real synergy. They are on a soul path and a personal path, and this could be explained through a line that is developed when you develop your first facial expression. One partner has a heart line that goes all the way up. It's like a big smile. People with a strong heart line have a very passionate, intense nature and need for excitement. In contrast, her husband has something that is very conservative. It's a heart line that just stops. An indication of a more stoic, reserved and supportive person. And, of course, you don't want two passionate people coming together in a relationship. Somebody needs to be the supportive one and somebody needs to be the passionate person."

The perfect post-pandemic booster for careers and relationships, a 30-minute introductory hand analysis session (limited offer) with Brent Bruning costs only £37 ($50). A photo of the handprints is all that is required of the client to begin, with Bruning providing readings over zoom.

Bruning also gives his clients the opportunity to face their demons head-on through The Shift, and finally, the Hero’s Journey. Both offer deep therapeutic dives into the self, by exploring the blueprint within the hand. A cathartic process, the sessions help us to understand the reasoning behind our behaviours; identify our triggers and conflicts, and build a roadmap to resolve them.

Editor's Notes

* Research by OXFAM showed that women's careers were disproportionately affected by the pandemic, particularly women of colour and ethnic minorities. Worldwide, women lost more than 64 million jobs in 2020 alone, resulting in an estimated US$800 billion loss of income.

They represent a scripture, calligraphy unique to each individual, bearing information about who we are to our core and what we feel is meaningful in our life. This project, therefore, is not merely adding a new piece of knowledge but bears the potential to widen the scientific approach to understanding the body. What can be more rewarding than being encouraged to widen our horizon of understanding? Especially, if it is about what it is to be a human bei ...
